A classic wide-angle standard lens with fast aperture and rapid ultrasonic focusing.

Fast aperture and swift focussing
The EF 35mm f/1.4L USM has a maximum aperture many stops faster than that found on a standard zoom lens, allowing a photographer to keep shooting hand-held when light levels begin to fall. An ultrasonic motor (USM) enables extremely fast focusing in near silence, and a floating lens element means consistent sharpness throughout the focusing range.

Aspheric lens element
Thanks to an aspherical lens element, the EF 35mm f/1.4L USM produces images that are distortion corrected. Consistent image quality all over the frame is ensured.

Super Spectra coating
Super Spectra coatings ensure accurate colour balance and enhance contrast. They also reduce flare and ghosting – a common problem caused by light bouncing off a camera's sensor.

L-series quality
The L-series is Canon's flagship professional lens range, representing the best in precision-designed EF optics. L-series lenses combine superior performance with superlative handling, and are resistant to dust and moisture.

Integration with E-TTL II flash metering
The lens passes distance information back to a compatible EOS camera's E-TTL II flash system to ensure optimal flash metering.

Accessories
The lens comes supplied with a lens hood and a soft case.

Canon EF 35mm f/2 (full format)

Introduction
Released back in 1990 the Canon EF 35mm f/2 is one of the Methusalems in the current EOS lens line-up. On full format DSLRs it's a moderate wide-angle prime lens with typical applications such as street or low-light photography.

Regarding its construction it is closely related to its flanking brothers and sisters of that lens era, namely the EF 28mm f/2.8 and EF 24mm f/2.8. The build quality is fairly decent but it's a little dated by current standards. This is especially true for the focus ring which feels a little "scratchy". The lens extends a little when focusing towards closer distances but the front element does not rotate so using a polarizer is no problem.

The AF does rely on an old micro-motor so AF operations are a bit on the noisy side although there isn't anything to complain about regarding AF speed as well as AF accuracy. FTM (full-time manual focusing) is not available.
